We had yesterday an excellent plus tour guide. His name is Charlie. He was actually outstanding!! His memory is so extremely good, we have never seen in our professional life being retired teachers in Tourism for more than 40 years. And we travel a lot. And make long voyages. Around the world. The museum opened its doors in 1975 and houses an extensive collection of Andalusian art, as well as works from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The museum is located in the former convent of San Agustín and consists of two floors with rooms dedicated to various themes: Andalusian painting, religious and historical sculpture, medieval Arab ceramics, modern and contemporary European prints, and more.
In addition to the permanent exhibits offered by the museum, there are also temporary exhibitions dedicated to local or international artists.
Some highlights of the museum include the Mudéjar Room, displaying Islamic motifs; the Andalusian Baroque Room, showcasing beautiful polychrome wooden carvings; the Goya Room, featuring works by the Aragonese master; the Modernism Gallery, including French and Italian Impressionist paintings; and temporary exhibitions with works by local and international artists.
